Aalesund won 2-1 against Vålerenga and advanced to the semifinals in the Norwegian Cup. The match was played at Color Line Stadion and was an exciting affair. Ida Mortensen Natvik sent Stabæk into the lead after seven minutes, before Tina Skogedal equalized after 34 minutes. Two minutes later, however, the team's captain Paige McAllister was sent off, and just before the break, Kristin Gumaer ensured that Stabæk went into the break with a 2-1 lead. Anna Malmin increased to 3-1 six minutes after the break, before Anna Nigardsøy reduced with a quarter left. The semifinals will be played on June 27 and 28, and the cup final will be played on Sunday, September 6 at Ullevaal Stadium. VIF defeated Rosenborg 2-0 in the cup final last year. Aalesund now has a good chance to advance to the final. They just have to beat Stabæk in the semifinals. It will be a tough match, but Aalesund has shown that they can win against good teams. Ingrid Synnøve Nødland is an important player for Aalesund and she has already scored several important goals this season. She is one of the best players on the team and she will be important in the semifinals against Stabæk.
